Time: 6:30 pm Program: The Private Quilt Collection of Filmmaker Ken Burns. Ken Burns is a renowned documentary filmmaker who has garnered several awards, including two Oscar nominations, two Grammy Awards, and 15 Emmy Awards. He has received the National Humanities Medal, American Academy of Achievement Award, a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, just to name a few. Some of his works that you might know are: The National Parks, The Great Bridge (about the construction of the Brooklyn Bridge), The Statue of Liberty, The Civil War, Jazz, Baseball, The Vietnam War, Mark Twain, Empire of the Air: The Men Who Made Radio, Thom-as Jefferson, and many more. Ken Burns has an agreement with PBS for many more movies and some topics including the Mayo Clinic, Ernest Hemingway, Muhammad Ali, the American Revolution, Lyndon B. Johnson, Winston Churchill and more. But what most people don’t know about Ken Burns is that he is an avid quilt collector and has a large private quilt collection. About one-third of the quilts from his personal collection were displayed at The International Quilt Study Center and Museum at the University of Nebraska from January to May of 2018.
