Quilting and Women during the Civil War period
Cynthia Rose is from Connecticut. She is the wife of an Army Veteran. When her daughter started college, she became very interested in the U.S. Civil War. She wanted to be a civil war reenactor but did not want to do it on her own. As a good mother Cynthia joined with her daughter and studied the role of women during that time. Twenty-five years later she is still doing handwork. Cynthia will discuss the history of fabric, sewing techniques, women’s organization and show examples of popular quilt squares and their uses.
