DESCRIPTION:We are excited to welcome award-winning fiber artist Nikki Hill\, a mostly self-taught artist whose creative journey began at just four years old as a storyteller and artist. Twenty years ago\, Nikki discovered quilting and taught herself how to transform her stories into stitches through surface design and fiber art. \nInspired by fairy tales\, fables\, her quirky sense of humor\, and a love of cats\, Nikki creates imaginative quilted works that tell captivating stories through fabric. \nNikki will be bringing approximately 25 quilts to share during her presentation\, with many available to be passed around for a closer look and interactive experience. \nDuring her program\, she will share stories about creativity\, her personal trials and triumphs in quilting and fiber arts\, and her experiences using Inktense pencils alongside her fabric creations. Each quilt is a tangible reminder to a child that they are seen\, valued\, and cared for. \nVolunteers play an important role in transforming donated quilt tops into finished pieces ready for donation. Opportunities to help include piecing quilt tops\, attaching backings\, layering batting\, and assisting with general quilt assembly. Basic sewing or quilting skills are helpful but not required — there are meaningful ways for everyone to contribute\, whether you’re experienced or brand new to sewing. \nWith no fixed deadlines\, the Foster Sew Program offers a flexible\, welcoming\, and low-stress environment where volunteers of all skill levels can connect\, create\, and make a difference together.
